However, when the reality of life hits you, and you find yourself battling out everything alone, it gets harder and harder not to present the symptoms of anxiety and stress.
Is it difficult to find your calm in a stressful world? It won’t get any easier and that is why we need some form of productive and positive coping mechanisms to help us through challenging times.
In this blog, I will enlist a few practical tips that helped me find my calm. There are some other tips that I have not yet tried out but people I know did so, I am adding those too.
Six Realistic Tips on how to find your calm in a stressful world
Here are some proactive measures you can take to stay calm:
- Take up an activity that makes you happy while making sure it is not something that gets you addicted to it. For me, a few arts and crafts activities helped, including journaling, listening to music, talking to a trusted friend, praying, and some other ritualistic exercises.
- Stress often causes me to lose out on sleep. So, I had to make sure that somehow, I got a sound sleep. Although, I must confess; as a parent, sleep is a luxury. That said, get a good night’s sleep. Keep your smartphone away from you at night as much as possible.
- As you wake up in the morning, try not to think about the activities that you have to do that are likely to create a sense of stress. Try to practise more gratitude for the day that has begun and start your day with an activity that makes you happy. Let’s say, cycling, jogging, meditating, yoga, or any other activity that puts a smile on your face. It could be something as simple as listening to the mellow songs of the 50s and 60s while you cook up a good breakfast for yourself in the kitchen.
- Nourish your body with wholesome foods. This tip is not entirely practical because junk food is more accessible and affordable at the same time, especially the sugary food. However, gradually, start adding wholesome foods to your diet and remove the trashy snacks that keep you up at night and put your hormones in turmoil.
- Use journals for anxiety and stress relief because journaling may include expressing yourself creatively or writing about how to feel. When you release the toxicity within you, you are likely to feel better and lighter.

- Try herbal teas to promote relaxation within yourself. It works for some people. Make a nice warm cup of herbal tea, sit by your window, put on some light music if you want to, and just enjoy your beverage. Don’t forget to smile.
Keep working on your calm
So, these are a few coping mechanisms I and people I know use to stay calm. Of course, some of us reach out for professional help from mental health experts. So, don’t hesitate to do the same because the tips I have shared above are not meant to replace medical treatment in any way.
I hope these six tips on how to find your calm in a stressful world help you.
